For lawns it’s recommended to water your landscaping deeply and infrequently at least one inch per week.

Having your grass cut at the right height — recommended at three inches — will cause less damage to your grass and prevent any stress that could negatively impact your lawn. With proper height and alternating trimming patterns, your lawn will be healthier — which allows for shading, fights against weed growth and protects the grass against insect damages.

Proper maintenance of your home’s irrigation system can reduce water waste and improve plant life. Maintenance is fairly simple — check the system at least two times seasonally when first turned on and halfway through the season. Regular maintenance includes inspecting the controller, updating any times or dates, checking all wire connections, replacing backup battery and turning on each zone to check for damages.

When selling your home, the landscaping is often one of the first details prospective buyers notice — and attractive and well-maintained lawns and plantlife adds curb appeal and a welcoming aesthetic. With a well-landscaped property, you can even see up to 10% home value added, so take your landscape project seriously.

Fertilizing your lawn is a necessary lawn care task to ensure your lawn has proper nutrients to ensure healthy growth and attractive quality. In Sydney areas, we recommend you apply fertilizer once per year in the springtime.

Many may assume springtime is the ideal season for landscaping installations, but for plantings like trees, shrubs and grass, fall is the best time for projects because of the warm days and cool evenings and the increased precipitation that assists new plant establishment. With fall plantings, you’ll have six to eight months to get roots established before warmer months, weeds are less frequent and the soil temperature is still warm. However, for perennial and annual flowers, springtime is the best time for planting.

Color theory refers to the aesthetic art of mixing colors and the visual effects of those color combinations — to create a relaxing feel, make small spaces seem larger, attract attention to an area or tie areas together, for example. In landscaping, the color spectrum is divided into four groups:

  • Primary: reds, yellows and blues
  • Secondary: greens, violets and oranges
  • Tertiary: blends of primary and secondary colors
  • Neutral: white, gray, tan and silvers

Using color combinations, you match colors to complement each other and tertiary colors are often used as transitional colors.

Our base rate pricing is inclusive of formwork, steel mesh, chairs, jointex, concrete and labour to complete the desired works. Other provided services such as excavation and sub base are charged depending on if they are required and vary from project to project.

There are a number of potential causes for this issue depending on the type of hot water system you have.

For solar systems something as simple as solar panel orientation and cleaning can solve this issue. However, most commonly no hot water is caused by a leak or stuck check valve. Our plumbers can inspect your system and conduct repairs to the check valve on the spot.

If you have an electric system, there are two main causes for no hot water. The first is that the power to the unit has been interrupted or may not be connected. The second is that the thermostat may need replacing.

Typically, there is a 2-4 week period before the commencement of a new project depending on the current work load.Dave will be upfront with our current work load at the time of quoting. Some times are busy than others like the lead up to Christmas. We endeavour to stay as close as possible to the time frame provided at the time of approval. The weather is our worst enemy with time as rain and concreting don’t mix.If there is a delay we will contact you and keep you updated.

Choosing colours and patterns can be very time consuming and stressful. The colour charts are there to give you an indication of the colour but as you are dealing with a natural product there will be variations from the printed version. We have sample boards that you can take and place in different areas of your home to see how the colours and patterns will compliment your home.We are constantly updating as we complete new projects.Ask to see our samples.

We work using a minimum of 100mm thick concrete for all of our standard concrete projects like driveways and paths, unless specified by an Engineer. We ensure we meet all Australian Standards. When we quote a project we ask what you will primarily be using the area for and will recommend a strength of concrete (25MPA or greater) and depth (100mm or greater) to suit. For example, a driveway used for parking a heavy vehicle could be 32MPA concrete and 125-150mm deep. While the path to your clothes line could be 100mm thick using 25MPA concrete.

We do not complete any concreting works without reinforcement mesh so we meet Australian Standards.Again depending on the type of concrete, the size of the area and what the area is to be used for, will determine what size of mesh we use.At a minimum we use SL62 for foot traffic concrete.

Yes we do!Master groups has all the equipment to excavate your project to get it to the correct levels and shape ready for concreting. We have a Bobcat, Dingo machine, 3 Tonne excavator and a 16T Tipper Truck. If a tree stump grinder is required we will take care of that for you, which of course you would have been quoted for.

Concrete requires curing time so 7-8 days is recommended. If your new concrete is to be sealed, then you may have to wait another couple of days so that the sealer has completely dried.

Electrical surges can be caused by anything from lightning strikes, damage to power lines, faulty appliances and bad electrical wiring in the house. While an actual surge only lasts a microsecond, frequent surges can damage the electrical components connected to your home, degrading their life expectancy significantly.

If you experience frequent electrical surges, the culprit is probably an electrical device connected to the home grid or the wiring itself. Try removing any cheaply made devices or powerboards from the outlet to see if this prevents the surges. Otherwise, it might be time to consult a professional electrician.

Like electrical surges, sags and dips in electrical supply can often be attributed to devices connected to your power grid that are faulty or made with substandard materials, and draw a lot of power when they are turned on.

Dimmer switches that don’t adjust light properly can often be attributed to shoddy workmanship or sub-standard products.

If you have just moved into a new house and find switches that don’t seem to activate anything at all, this might be a sign the switches have been superseded and fixtures removed, or it could be a fault in the outlet, circuit or wiring. Consult with an electrician if you’re experiencing issues with switches in your house.

High wattage items like microwaves and hairdryers can trip circuit breakers, particularly when other power consuming items are used on the same source. A circuit breaker is designed to protect you and your home, so when it does trip, that’s a sign it’s doing its job.

Look at what you were using when it tripped. If it was a hair dryer, try using the low setting. Alternatively, limit the electrical usage on a single circuit while high watt devices are in use.

One of the biggest causes of frequent circuit breaker tripping is the overloading of power boards. Most homes and apartments, even newer ones, don’t have enough power points to cater to, for example, a complete home entertainment unit setup. If circuit breakers in your home are tripping frequently, it could be down to circuit overload. Prevent this by:

  • Never daisy-chain power boards.
  • Remove devices that aren’t in use (for example, phone chargers still draw power even when not connected).
  • Spread your electrical needs around. Don’t overburden a single circuit.
  • Be mindful of how you connect devices around the home – what’s in use, and what is unnecessary.

if some lights around the house seem excessively bright but others are dim, then there’s two probable causes:

  1. Different types of lights with different wattage: Check that all the globes are identical.
  2. Bad main neutral connection: This will continue to cause problems for the home until it is fixed by a professional.

An electrical shock is a nasty experience. Even though they are usually pretty mild, something akin to a static shock, they remind us that electricity is dangerous when not probably utilised.

Electrical shocks typically happen when you turn a device on or off. The issue could be with the appliance, or it could be in the wiring. You can test this by plugging in another device and seeing if the results are reproducible, however you’re just risking another electrical shock. In most cases, it might be better to speak with an electrician.

Reducing the cost of your electrical bill could include:

Switching to a more cost effective provider
Identifying electrical devices that may be causing power surges
Patching leaks in the hot water system
Unplugging appliances and chargers when not in use
Repairing damaged wiring or circuits

There are a number of reasons your lights can be burning out too often:

  • Wattage is too high
  • Insulation is too close to the light
  • Bad wiring on the circuit
  • Bad wiring on the mains
  • On a dimmer switch, too much total wattage on one switch
  • If flickering there is probably a poor connection on the circuit.

Isolating the issue can be tricky for non-professionals. If you’re going through light bulbs like it’s nobody’s business, it it might be worth reaching out to an electrician to help identify the root cause of light bulb burnouts.

Recessed lighting (like downlights) are equipped with safety devices that cut out power to the light when it gets too hot. You’re either using too high wattage on the bulb, or insulation in the ceiling is too close to the bulb.

Check overhead lights every so often:

Are they producing excessive heat?
What is the total wattage on the circuit?
Are they insulated properly?
Overheated lighting can be a fire risk, so be sure test regularly.

If your lawn is in need of some TLC we can solve your problem. We start by undertaking soil test to identify the Ph of your lawn to identify what nutrients your lawn is lacking. A test result between 6 and 7 is ideal for most nutrients to be readily absorbed. Soil pH is an indication of the acidity or alkanlity of the soil which is measured in pH units. Less than 6. is acidic and 7 alkaline.

If your soil is alkaline, it means it has a high pH. We can increase the acidity of your soil by adding gypsum . If your soil test indicates that your soil pH is too low which mean acidic we would add agricultural lime or dolomite. Once the soil test identifies if any nutrient deficiency master groups team can tailor a fertilise program for your lawn every 6 -8 weeks to have your lawn looking the best all year round and a 3 monthly fertilise program for your plants and plants looking green and healthy all year round.
